How do we graph parabolas?

The graphs of quadratic functions are called parabolas.
Example :

http://tutorial.math.lamar.edu/Classes/Alg/Parabolas_files/image001.gifAll parabolas are “U” shaped and they will have a highest or lowest point that is called the vertex.  Parabolas may open up or down and may or may not have x-intercepts and they will always have a single y-intercept. The dashed line with each of these parabolas is called the axis of symmetry

Now to graph a parabola , lets use the equation y=x^2+x-2
You write that in a graphing calculator and it wil give you a table of what x equals and what y equals and you graph the parabola.
