The formula to find the axis of symmetry : y=ax^2 + bx + c
The axis of symmetry is : x= -b
2a
Example : y= 2x^2 + 4x + -7
So , 2 = a , b=4 & C= -7
We plug in the numbers to the formula : - 4 / 2(2) = -4/4 = X = -1
Keep in Mind when the parabola opens up it's vertex is down in other words Minimum
& When it opens and the vertex is up tin other words maximum.
