How do we solve rational proportions ?

When two fractions are equal, they are called a proportion. Solve proportions using the cross product, which is the simplest and easiest way.

 So as you can see , this problem is solved by doing cross multiplication. 4*2=8 and 5*x = 5x then you divide by 5 on both sides to get x alone , 8/5= 1.6 , then means that x=1.6.
